Job Summary
Protea Behavioral Health has immediate openings for licensed behavioral health clinicians looking to work with a grassroots project. We provide substance use disorder treatment to individuals in early recovery and provide long-term support for those established in recovery or in need of mental health maintenance. Our recovery ecosystem consists of daily treatment programming, supportive peer support and community based skills development, and transitional housing. Incumbents will need to demonstrate abilities; working independently and being flexible to meet the needs of the clients. This position requires direct engagement, recovery support services knowledge, community resource knowledge and ability to work independently.

Position Description
- Participates in face-to-face outreach efforts to individuals struggling with substance use, including those experiencing homelessness.
- Works closely with community partners to help coordinate services for clients, especially services applicable to individuals experiencing homelessness.
- Assesses individuals for substance use disorders and associated basic needs.
- Assists clients in accessing community resources i.e.: housing, treatment services, applicable benefits, job placement, etc. as determined by client assessment.
- Provides resource, treatment & sober support information to individuals interested in recovery.
- Provides recovery education and support to persons with substance use disorder.
- In collaboration with community partners, connects and engages with individuals who have had recent contact with the emergency response system related to overdose and substance abuse issues.
- Assists with implementation of individual client recovery plans.
Required Skills/Abilities
- High school graduate or GED.
- Post secondary education with conferred degree specific to license type
- State of Kentucky or State of Ohio current unencumbered license required.
- Knowledge of substance use disorder systems, mental health systems, and healthcare is strongly desired. Individuals must have demonstrated the ability to respectfully motivate other consumers to act on their own behalf and to participate in activities.
- Drug test required prior to start.

- Experience with ASAM (American Society of Addiction Medicine) criteria.

Education & Experience
- Substance Abuse Counselor
- Bachelor’s degree in human services field from an accredited university
- Current License as a Substance Abuse Counselor ( CDCA, LCADC, LCDC)
- Additional Certifications desired: TI-CBT, MI
- Mental Health Counselor
- Masters degree in behavioral health services from an accredited university
- Current license in Clinical mental health services (LPCA, LPCC, LCSW, CSW)
- Additional certifications in trauma care or substance abuse
